This case is before the court on certification from the court of appeals on the question of whether a circuit court may order sex-offender registration as a condition of probation for a defendant who has not been convicted and sentenced for one of the crimes enumerated in the sex-offender registration statute or its counterpart in the sentencing code, Wis. Stat. §§ 301.45 and 973.048 (2001-2002),1
