Boatwright was on community control when he asked for and received permission to attend church services on a Sunday between 8:00 a.m and 12:00 p.m. Instead of returning at that time, however, he was caught up in the religiosity of the church services and went from there to the bishop's home for group counseling until 5:30 p.m. when he was returned to his home by the same church bus which had picked him up in the morning.
