FACTS AND PROCEDURAL HISTORY On July 6, 2001, Gary Barrilleaux and his wife of 26 years, Laurie, were traveling northbound on Louisiana Highway 39 in Plaquemines Parish on their 2000 Harley Davidson motorcycle. Suddenly and without warning or signal, Kylane Shane Barthelemy pulled out from the shoulder of the highway in a pickup truck attempting to make a left-hand U-turn.
