On October 13, 1998, plaintiff was a passenger in a motor vehicle that struck a building when it veered off Vley Road in the Village of Scotia, Schenectady County, while traveling at a high rate of speed. Plaintiff, who was thrown from the vehicle, was transported from the scene to Albany Medical Center, where he remained in a coma for approximately 30 days.
