Defendant was indicted by a grand jury for the First Degree Murder of Shacoria Remedies, a two-year-old child, in violation of La. R.S. 14:30. A unanimous jury convicted the defendant as charged, but could not reach a verdict on imposition of the death penalty. After denying defendant's motion for post-verdict judgment of acquittal, the court imposed the mandatory sentence of life imprisonment without benefit of probation, parole, or suspension of sentence...
