On January 12, 2001, Gerald P. Scrushy was charged by complaint with harassment, a violation of § 13A-11-8(a)(1), Ala. Code 1975, and assault in the third degree, a violation of § 13A-6-22, Ala.Code 1975. Both cases were heard in Dallas County District Court. On July 13, 2001, Scrushy was convicted of both offenses. In the harassment case, Scrushy was fined $500 and was sentenced to 90 days in the city jail. That sentence was suspended, and...
