The State petitioned to adjudicate defendant, Javier M. Beltran, a delinquent minor. Then, pursuant to section 5-805(2) of the Juvenile Court Act of 1987 (the Act) (705 ILCS 405/5-805(2) (West 1998)), the State moved to prosecute defendant under the criminal law.
