As the result of a partially negotiated guilty plea, defendant, Annette M. Palmer, pleaded guilty to the offense of armed violence premised on aggravated battery. The January 28, 2000, information alleged in pertinent part that defendant, "while armed with a dangerous weapon, a bludgeon, * * * intentionally and without legal justification cut Pastor Escamilla about the body thereby causing great bodily harm [to him...
