Plaintiff appeals as of right from the trial court's grant of summary disposition to defendants under MCR 2.116(I)(2). We affirm.

Charles Edward Thomas, the decedent, was a former employee of the city of Detroit who died in 1997. While employed by the city, he participated in an "annuity savings fund" (the fund) under the direction of defendant City of Detroit Retirement System.
