The defendant, Anthony Roy W., was convicted of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child (720 ILCS 5/12-14.1 (West 1998)), and criminal sexual assault (720 ILCS 5/12-13 (West 1998)). He was sentenced to 20 years' imprisonment. The defendant filed a post-trial motion alleging ineffective assistance of counsel based on: (1) trial counsel's failure to present evidence that the victim had pending delinquency charges...
