On 7 July 1997, defendant William Todd Anthony was indicted for first-degree murder of Semantha Belk Anthony1 and for assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury on John Edward Belk. Defendant was tried capitally before a jury at the 3 May 1999 Criminal Session of Superior Court, Gaston County.
