This Court granted the petition for certiorari filed by the State to review the judgment of the Court of Criminal Appeals reversing Melvin Vinson's convictions for unlawful distribution of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a pistol after having been convicted of a crime of violence. See Ala.Code 1975, §§ 13A-12-211 and 13A-11-72(a). Vinson was sentenced
