Nelida Faccio-Robert ("Robert") was hired as a security supervisor for Empress River Casino ("Empress") in Joliet, Illinois, in 1992. After four years she became Chief of Security. She was fired in August 1998 by David Fendrick, who had been hired as Vice President and General Manager in August 1997.
