In 1991 the United States Internal Revenue Service and the Louisiana Department of Revenue and Taxation (Department) formed a Joint Gaming Task Force. The purpose of this Task Force was to study the new gaming industry that would be created in Louisiana, and to identify tax issues relevant to the industry in order to educate and assist members of the industry with tax matters.
