Donna and Donald J. Schulingkamp Sr., respectively sister and father of the late Donald J. Schulingkamp Jr., filed a lawsuit in 1989 against several parties, including Dr. Robert Treuting as coroner for the Parish of Jefferson. The suit was one for both wrongful death and unauthorized organ harvesting on the body of Schulingkamp Jr. In August of 1995, Dr. Treuting obtained an order dismissing the case pursuant to La.Code Civ.Pro.art. 561.
