Defendants, James and Janice Peterson, were charged with five counts of intimidation (720 ILCS 5/12-6 (West 1996)) and four counts of threatening a public official (720 ILCS 5/12-9 (West 1996)). Following a jury trial, the defendants were found guilty but mentally ill (GBMI). The defendants were sentenced to concurrent five-year terms of imprisonment for intimidation; the convictions for threatening a public official...
