Defendant pleaded guilty to a superior court information charging him with one count of criminal sale of a controlled substance in the third degree with the understanding that a sentence of 1½ to 4½ years in prison would be imposed. Defendant later requested that a scheduled sentencing date of March 6, 1997 be adjourned until March 31, 1997, with defendant released on his own recognizance.
