Appellant Adams was convicted of arson and second degree murder in 1988. The debtor in this case was convicted with Adams, although on lesser offenses. Adams obtained a default judgment against the debtor for defamation,1 and, upon the debtor filing a case under chapter 7 of the bankruptcy code, filed a complaint to determine dischargeability of debt under section 523(a)(6) of the Bankruptcy Code.
