STEWART, Judge.

This criminal appeal arises from the 11th Judicial District Court, Parish of DeSoto, the Honorable Elizabeth A. Pickett presiding. After a jury trial, the defendant, Gary Barber, was convicted of first degree murder, a violation of La. R.S. 14:30. The jury unanimously agreed that a life sentence, rather than the death penalty, was the appropriate punishment, and accordingly the court sentenced the defendant to serve life imprisonment without benefit...
