This action arises out of an automobile accident on 28 August 1990. Plaintiff Carlton Blake Curry, who was 34 years old at the time, was stopped at a red light at the intersection of Sardis Road and East Independence Boulevard in Charlotte. Plaintiff's automobile was in the inside lane of two left turn lanes on Sardis Road. An automobile driven by Julie Helms was in the outside left turn lane next to him.
