McCaughey, two New York residents, formed Boxwood Associates ("Boxwood"), a Georgia limited partnership, in order to acquire, rehabilitate and operate the historic Lamar Building in Augusta, Georgia. After the venture failed, Murphy and McCaughey disputed who was responsible for certain debts.
