The appellant, Milton Allen Watkins, was convicted of selling a controlled substance (cocaine), a violation of § 13A-12-211, Ala.Code 1975. He was sentenced pursuant to the Habitual Felony Offender Act, § 13A-5-9, Ala.Code 1975, and pursuant to the enhancement provisions of §§ 13A-12-250 and -270, Ala.Code 1975, to serve 20 years in prison.
