ANTOON, Justice.

James E. Stevens (defendant) appeals his judgment and sentence for the first-degree murder1 of Wanda McCloud. He seeks a new trial, arguing that the trial court erred in failing to issue the standard jury instruction on the defense of voluntary intoxication. We affirm, because the trial court properly concluded that the instant record contains insufficient evidence to warrant the instruction.
