In 1984, defendant pleaded guilty of attempted false pretenses, M.C.L. § 750.92; M.S.A. § 28.287 and M.C.L. § 750.218; M.S.A. § 28.415. Before sentencing, defendant escaped from jail. He was subsequently arrested in Ontario, Canada, where he served a sentence for armed robbery before being transferred to a United States federal prison.
