Marcellus Johnson, plaintiff, and Percy White, defendant, were involved in a car accident on January 26, 1995. Mr. Johnson filed suit against Mr. White and the insurer of the vehicle, Safeway Insurance Company. Mr. White claimed he purchased and obtained possession of the vehicle, a 1981 Lincoln Continental, from Marilyn J.
