The defendant, Richard J. Schmidt, is charged with the attempted second degree murder of Janice Trahan, in violation of La. R.S. 14:30.1 and La.R.S. 14:27, arising out of his alleged injection of a human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) into the victim. He has filed a pretrial supervisory writ application to this court, questioning the correctness of two rulings of the trial court concerning certain evidentiary issues which may arise in his upcoming trial...
