Petitioner was convicted of manslaughter in the first degree and sentenced to 15 years' imprisonment in 1972. Five years later he was released on parole. Thereafter he was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a weapon and manslaughter in the first degree. He was convicted of both crimes and sentenced to concurrent prison terms of 12½ to 25 years on the manslaughter charge and 3½ to 7 years on the weapons possession...
