Defendant resided in a trailer at Martin's Trailer Park in the Town of Coxsackie, Greene County, with his girlfriend, Mary Carter, and her daughter. At approximately 8:15 P.M. on March 19, 1994, while defendant and Carter were at home, the trailer caught fire.
