On May 16, 1992, Dr. Mary A. Courtney was driving her 1990 Mitsubishi Eclipse in Milford, Massachusetts. For some reason, the car went off the road and into two large trees, and Courtney sustained severe and permanently debilitating injuries. Courtney and her husband, Marc H.
