The two questions to be resolved on this appeal are (1) whether the People's cross-examination of the defendant concerning his prior criminal record impaired the integrity of the Grand Jury, and (2) whether the holding in People v Sandoval (34 N.Y.2d 371) is applicable to Grand Jury proceedings.

In our view, both of these questions must be answered...
