Darnell Hawkins was charged by bill of information on August 4, 1992, with attempted second degree murder, a violation of La. R.S. 14:27/30.1. On January 19, 1993, a twelve member jury found the appellant guilty as charged. He was sentenced on March 26, 1993, to serve eighteen years at hard labor.
