Defendants, Patrick Williams and Darryl Parham, were indicted for three counts of first degree murder (Ill.Rev.Stat.1991, ch. 38, par. 9-1-A(1-3) (now 720 ILCS 5/9-1(a)(1-3) (West 1994))) and armed robbery (Ill.Rev. Stat.1991, ch. 38, par. 18-2(A) (now 720 ILCS 5/18-2(a) (West 1994))). Both defendants were tried simultaneously in severed jury trials. Following trial, Williams was found guilty of first degree murder...
