Dawn Witt (Witt), who alleged she was a battered woman and acted in self-defense when she shot and killed her boyfriend, appeals her voluntary manslaughter conviction. Concerning the battered woman syndrome, she contends the district court erred by excluding expert testimony on her state of mind at the time of the shooting and failed to properly instruct the jury on the syndrome.
