When Dr. Jan R. Purgess, an anesthesiologist, was terminated from employment at the Hospital for Special Surgery ("HSS"), he brought this action, asserting several claims against HSS and Dr. Nigel E. Sharrock, its Director of Anesthesiology. His claims included alleged violations of the federal antitrust laws plus state claims of breach of contract, defamation, and tortious interference with prospective economic advantage.
