The defendant, Lalandie Franklin, was charged with armed robbery in violation of La.R.S. 14:64. After he was evaluated by a sanity commission and found competent to stand trial, he entered a plea of not guilty and not guilty by reason of insanity. Defendant proceeded to trial and was found guilty as charged. The trial court sentenced defendant to ninety-nine years at hard labor without benefit of probation, parole or suspension of sentence...
