The Grand Jury of the First Judicial District of Hinds County indicted George Bell ("Bell") for the murder of Allen Mize ("Mize"). The case was heard before a jury on May 29 and May 30, 1991. The jury found Bell guilty of murder and the court sentenced him to life in prison. Bell, through his attorney, filed a motion for a new trial and a motion for judgment notwithstanding the verdict.
