At issue in this workers' compensation claim is whether the employee's notification of his claim by letter to the employer was sufficient to interrupt the prescriptive period of LSA-R.S. 23:1031.1(E) concerning occupational diseases. Workers' compensation statutes are to be interpreted liberally in the employee's favor. The Hearing Officer (WCHO) erred in sustaining the exception of prescription. The judgment is reversed and the matter is remanded...
