On June 10, 1992, appellant Larry D. Hamblen, Jr. was convicted by a jury of battery in the first degree and permitting abuse of a child. Appellant was sentenced to twenty (20) years and fined $15,000.00 on the battery charge and sentenced to ten (10) years and fined $10,000.00 for permitting child abuse, with the sentences to run concurrently.
