Defendant, Lester Lavan Thomas, was charged by bill of information with possession of a firearm by a felon, a violation of LSA-R.S. 14:95.1. Defendant waived formal arraignment and entered a plea of not guilty to this charge. Trial by jury began on June 24, 1992. On June 25, 1992, the jury returned a verdict of guilty as charged.
