On 3 July 1989, defendant was indicted for first-degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, first-degree burglary, and conspiracy to commit burglary. Defendant was tried capitally in the Superior Court, Johnston County, in May 1991 and was found guilty of all charges.
