Chief Justice MILLER delivered the opinion of the court:

The defendant, Patrick Page, was convicted of murder, armed robbery, and home invasion in a jury trial in the circuit court of Cook County. At a separate sentencing hearing, the same jury found the defendant eligible for the death penalty and concluded that there were no mitigating circumstances sufficient to preclude its imposition. The trial judge therefore sentenced the defendant to death for the murder conviction...
