CRAIN, Judge.

Billy Wayne Strange was indicted for first degree murder. Prior to trial, the state amended the charge to second degree murder, a violation of La.R.S. 14:30.1(A)(2). Defendant pled not guilty and, after trial by jury, was convicted as charged. The court sentenced defendant to serve a term of life imprisonment at hard labor, without benefit of probation, parole, or suspension of sentence.
