The defendant, Frederick J. Bole, Jr., pleaded guilty in the circuit court of McHenry County to three counts of criminal sexual assault. The trial judge sentenced the defendant to consecutive terms of 10, 10, and 8 years' imprisonment for the convictions. The appellate court vacated the sentences and remanded the cause for resentencing, concluding that the trial judge had erroneously believed that any prison...
