Darrell Crane (Crane) was injured on January 25, 1988, while working on a construction job at the Exxon plant in East Baton Rouge Parish. He sued his employer, Merit Industrial Constructors, Inc. (Merit), Exxon Corporation1 (Exxon), and Fred Brauer, Exxon's safety advisor.
