This case presents two questions concerning the district court's exclusion of evidence in a criminal prosecution. Defendant-Appellant Richard B. Lankford was convicted on two counts of extortion and two counts of filing false income tax returns. During defense counsel's cross-examination of the government's chief witness against Lankford, the district court precluded a line of questioning by defense counsel purporting to show motive for false testimony...
