Mohammed Ali Bastanipour was born in Iran in 1944, came to the United States in 1974 to study, and became a permanent resident of this country in 1978. An accountant for Price Waterhouse, Bastanipour returned to Iran in 1979 for reasons that remain obscure. He flew back to the U.S. from Teheran in 1980 — and upon arrival at O'Hare Airport in Chicago was promptly arrested for possession of almost nine pounds of heroin concealed in jars...
