Defendant Willie Dixon was employed as an officer of the Cook County sheriff's police department and was stationed in Maywood. On January 25, 1987, Superbowl Sunday, Dixon was working as a dispatcher. It is common practice for the sheriff's department to make audio tapes of on-duty dispatcher communications.
