After a jury trial, defendant Joseph Liberman was convicted in absentia of trafficking of a controlled substance containing cocaine weighing more than 100 grams but less than 400 grams under the Illinois Controlled Substances Act (Act) (Ill.Rev.Stat. 1989, ch. 56½, par. 1100 et seq.).
