This is an automatic appeal from a judgment and sentence of death following defendant's conviction of first degree murder committed during a robbery or attempted robbery. (Pen. Code, §§ 187, 190.2, subd. (a)(17)(i); all statutory references are to this code unless otherwise indicated.)
