The appellee, Robert L. Mace, filed a lawsuit against the appellant, Charleston Area Medical Center Foundation, Inc. (CAMC), alleging breach of an employment contract and retaliatory discharge. The case was tried before a six person jury which found for Mace on both counts and awarded him $55,700.29 in damages for lost wages, $50,000.00 for emotional distress, and $125,000.00 in punitive damages.
